The weight of the pellucid word “ambition” is very burdensome in India and for the fulfilment of which, we often have to pursue a pathway which encompasses multiple confounding twists and turns. Contemplating the era of pre high school study, where scoring sky-scraping percentile seemed a child’s play or the hardcore acrid realities of the post high school period, where studying for the boards and rushing to join a coaching first evolved only as a matter of debate and later on further developed into a formidable dilemma. This saga continued down the road and into the future.

But in the thick of all this, majority of us compromise on our goals and aspirations, thereby ending up opting for a career which was never meant to provide us with a sense of accomplishment, pride and satisfaction. Here are 3 prominent reasons, which account for faulty and disfigured career choice by students explicitly in India.

  • Students are unaware of their Interest Space

This is the most prevailing run-down in the current scenario as students are super busy paying excessive heed to their peers. Instead of identifying the activities and skills where they can excel, they are often drawn towards jobs which offer lucrative packages but doesn’t even have a distant kinship with the domain of their liking. As a ramification of all this, many of us end up making career choices which may sound cool at the beginning but such options usually turn out to be fruitless and catastrophic in the terms of job satisfaction. Therefore being well informed, attentive and mindful about one’s area of interest is very crucial for making a good career choice.

    Career Matrix

  • Students are well acquainted with their Interest Space but are still dubious about following that trail

One of the most peculiar things about being an Indian is that lion’s share of us are driven by the fraudulent social norms and something which sounds even worse is that these pseudo-social norms directly influence the career choice of students. The Career aspirations and objectives of the pupil often conflict with those of people encompassing him/her. And hence to avoid such emulation students retreat and eventually give up on their dreams in the first place. What follows next is the feeling of despair of being stuck in a totally bizarre field. Something that we all must commemorate is that the only thing which is legitimate and worth honouring is one’s own conviction and propensity to succeed.

  • Students are self assured and well acquainted with their Interest Space but have the inadequate game plan and blue print for success

Its usually said that not only having the appropriate resources that counts but also having the pertinent strategy that is quite essential in order to transform the desire into a series of positive outcomes. This logic is also applicable while opting for a career path. Generally students are not conscious about the pros and cons of choosing a particular career in terms of its scope and demand in the future. Therefore it becomes a necessity to examine one’s career prospects through various camera angles and then cerebrally choose upon the legitimate career direction.

Lastly, just got to mention this

The Civil Services refer to the civil service and the permanent bureaucracy of the Government of India. The civil service system is the backbone of the administrative machinery of the country. In the parliamentary democracy of India, the ultimate responsibility for running the administration rests with the elected representatives of the people which are the ministers. But the handful of ministers cannot be expected to deal personally with the manifold problems of modern administration. Thus the ministers lay down the policy and it is for the civil servants to carry out this policy. The executive decisions are implemented by the Indian civil servants. The members of civil service serve at the pleasure of the President of India and Article 311 of the constitution protects them from politically motivated or vindictive action. Civil servants are employees of the Government of India; however, not all employees of the Government are civil servants. Civil servants in a personal capacity are paid from the Civil List. Senior civil servants may be called to account by Parliament.
